Father Brett Williams, our Parish Priest, was born on the 24th December in Pietermaritzburg and raised in Hillcrest where he completed his schooling at Kearsney College. He obtained a BSc and later an MSc in Animal Science from the University of Natal. Thereafter, he lectured and was Head of the Department of Agriculture at Mangosuthu Technikon.

He entered the seminary in 1999 and was ordained Deacon in 16 June 2005 and Priest on the 16th of December 2005. Later, he was appointed to Hammersdale as Assistant Parish Priest and, in 2006 he was moved to Elandskop where he served as Acting Parish Priest. From 2009 – 2012, he was the Ecclesiastical Assistant to the Apostolic Nuncio in Pretoria.

Before being appointed Parish Priest of St Joseph’s in February 2015, Father Brett was the parish priest in Redhill (2012 – 2014) and was appointed as Chancellor of the Archdiocese in 2014, a position he served in until June 2022.

In 2021, Father Brett obtained an MBA from a Catholic University in the United States of America.

Newly ordained to the transitional Diaconate, Nkazimulo Shange has been assigned to assist Father Brett at the Parish of Saint Joseph. Deacon Shange was born in upper Tongaat and completed his education there before going on to do 3 years at Durban Computer College. Sensing a call to Priesthood, he was sent to St Ambrose Formation House, went on to St Francis Xavier Orientation House, Cape Town and then to St John Vianney in Pretoria where he completed his theology and philosophy degrees.

He has one brother and two sisters, all younger than him.  His inspiration was Father Xaba, formally Parish Priest of Tongaat.  His mother, Nokuphiwa Shange, is very proud of him.
